Coaching notes and scaling

Intent, stimulus and the detail that turns a whiteboard into a class.

Every day of programming comes with coaching notes; you’ll find these in the weekly programming channel. They carry the intent, the stimulus and the detail that turns a whiteboard into a class. Video briefs and drill overviews sit alongside them in the resources channel.

Scaling options

Scaling suggestions are built into every session, based on the class stimulus.

Some days you will see one Intermediate option. Other days you will see Intermediate L1 and L2. That happens most often with gymnastics, where the gap between a member who has the movement and a member who does not is widest, and the extra tier gives you room to move somebody through a plateau rather than parking them at a scaled version for months.

Higher-skill movements

We do not shy away from higher skills, but we do not use them every single week. The goal is to keep everybody motivated, including the members who can already do them. We will ALWAYS offer scaling options and modifications that suit most members' goals.

Lifting percentages

Our lifting sessions run on percentages. Until your members know their numbers, the RPE chart gives them a way to find the right load. There is a separate guide covering how to introduce it.

Your coaches own the warm-up

We write a warm-up for every session. I would still hand it to your coaches.

It is the best fifteen minutes in the hour to respond to whoever actually walked through the door. A written warm-up cannot know that four people in the six o'clock class have sore shoulders. Your coach can.
